Green Caravan: fossil-free electric charging

Electric vehicles drive emission-free. However, a lot of CO2 is still emitted during the generation of that electricity. Green Caravan's mission is to make electric charging 100% fossil-free. Now, not only by 2050. Green Caravan accomplishes this with its own charging card, app, and recently, its own grid-independent fast charging station.

Early investors like Jasper and Jozien (No Dodos) enable us to develop new technology and lead the transition to the era of fossil-free electric charging.

Change requires investment

For technical innovation and rapid growth, money is needed. Green Caravan has taken all major steps in developing its own software and data models. The number of charging card and app users grew by 40% month-on-month in 2023. And since the end of 2023, the first fossil-free fast charging station in the Netherlands has been operational. A milestone! For the future growth of Green Caravan and for more 100% fossil-free charging stations, more capital is needed.

Green Caravan is seeking investors big and small. Founded as a cooperative (similar to No Dodos), Green Caravan is owned by its members through easily tradable certificates. Through the sharefunding platform Eyevestor, anyone can purchase available Green Caravan certificates and invest in Green Caravan. This is what we at No Dodos have done, and so can you invest in Green Caravan.

Full disclosure: Jasper, co-founder of No Dodos, is also a co-founder of Green Caravan. The mission of Green Caravan aligns fantastically with that of No Dodos. Therefore, the entire No Dodos team has decided to invest in Green Caravan.

Changing behavior with charging advice

The energy mix of the electricity grid varies greatly by location and time. At one moment, there is a lot of solar and wind energy. At another moment, gas and coal power plants step in to produce enough electricity. This variability means that electric charging can cause a lot of CO2 emissions. The good news: you can predict the energy mix. Green Caravan advises its users to charge at the most sustainable time of the day. Users can find the emissions per charging session in the free Green Caravan app. If you also use the Green Caravan charging card, the CO2 emissions you still produce will be offset through a partnership with Trees for All.

100% Fossil-free charging stations

With the charging card and app, Green Caravan is still dependent on the energy mix and emissions from the electricity grid. Green Caravan has developed a concept for grid-independent 100% fossil-free charging hubs where electricity is supplied by local solar panels and biogas from sewage treatment plants. Or as Green Caravan puts it: "Powered by ☀️ and 💩".

By the end of 2023, Green Caravan opened the first 100% fossil-free charging station in the Netherlands in Echt, Limburg. The concept has been validated, paving the way to open multiple fossil-free charging hubs in 2024. Keep a close eye on Green Caravan.

We are proud that with our investment, the transition to a fossil-free world is being accelerated.
